The Story of the Peters Family, Hanseatic Coffee Roasters, Hamburg

Hanseatic Coffee Roasters was founded in 2014 by Sven Peters, a native of Hamburg with an early passion for gourmet products. He began his professional career at a renowned sparkling wine cellar, where he honed his sensory skills. Later, he founded a company specializing in supplying hotels and restaurants, as well as gourmet products. From his father, who was trained at a Hamburg coffee roastery, Sven Peters gained valuable expertise that continues to shape his work to this day. In 2020, his son Frederic—a trained hotel manager with in-depth knowledge of the coffee industry—began to take on a more prominent role in the company. Today, Sven and Frederic Peters represent Hanseatic Coffee Roasters. Frederic focuses on the production and quality management of roasted coffee as well as the further development of the product line, while Sven oversees the business operations of the company.

In June 2022, after an extensive search, the company found the ideal location for its own roastery in Rahlstedt. On a site covering approximately 800 square meters, they built a roastery in partnership with Public Coffee Roasters. Rather than competing with one another, the two family-run specialty roasteries decided to pool their expertise and conserve resources. Their motto is “Produce Together” and “Grow Together,” always with the goal of ensuring the highest quality and sustainability in coffee cultivation. With three “Probat” drum roasters—with capacities of 12 kg, 25 kg, and 75 kg—they now fill the air with the irresistible aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans for both brands.
